Embraer – champion in innovation in 2016

Embraer is the champion company in innovation in Brazil in 2016. Last year, nearly half of Embraer’s revenues came from new or significantly improved products. “To remain competitive, Embraer has to be innovative all the time”, said the Executive Vice President of Operations, Mr. Mauro Kern Jr. To achieve this, the company applies 5.6% of its sales into the R&D, which represent about BRL 1.13 bi. per year. “We have a team of engineers whose role is to foresee the trends 15 years ahead”, said Mr. Kern.

For 2016, the company, whose 90% of its production is sold abroad, plans to invest up to BRL 2.12 bi. in innovative activities, almost double of 2015. “We strive for the level of investments of about 10 % of global revenues”, said Kern.

Embraer was indicated as the most innovative company in the country in the second edition of “Valor Innovation Brazil” – competition organized by the economic journal Valor together with the consulting company Strategy. In order to stimulate the development of technologies and to recognize the efforts of the companies that invest in innovation, the organizers listed one hundred most innovative companies in Brazil.
