By the end of 2018, Brazilian government intends to auction others 17 port areas in the total amount of 2.5 billion of investments. The next auctions will be held in September, in the area of Santos (state of Sao Paulo) for liquid bulk cargo, one in port of Santana (state Amapá) for wood chips, and another one in Miramar (state of Pará) for liquefied petroleum gas. For the last bid is in responsible the “Companhia Docas” in Pará.

In November, the Government will auction off the area in Santos, today administered by the company Pérola, which is destined to the movement of bulks like fertilizers and salt. The company has among its shareholders Rodrimar, the company, which is a target of the investigation that detects irregularities in the edition of the Ports Decree.

Three other areas will be placed in public consultation and in the next few days, the Government will submit more areas intended for lease to the Federal Audit Office (TCU). The strike of truck drivers, in May this year, exposed the country to a lack of fuel storage and now the Government will be looking for bids for terminals that store such cargo, confirmed Mr. Adalberto Tokarski, Director of the National Water Transportation Agency (Antaq). Therefore, three of the areas that go to the TCU are for liquids, in the port of Cabedelo (state of Paraíba).

In addition, the Government is negotiating the early extension of three contracts with the condition of new investments.

The Director of the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) Mr. Diogo Piloni, who is responsible for the port areas, said that since the new Ports Act of 2013, there are three investment fronts: private terminals, the so-called TPU, early extensions of leases, and new bids.

The first two areas counted for investments in the total amount of 30 billion of reais, but the third one in unleashing only now. “We´re going to work so that all these auctions will be done by the end of this year, or eventually some can stay for January”, said Mr. Piloni.
